Industry Specific ComplianceThe Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on February 06, 2026, notified regarding the Dearness Relief payable for the period February 2026 to July 2026 to surviving retirees of banks, and surviving spouses of Retirees who receive Ex gratia.

The following has been stated:

• As per the Government of India (Banking Division) letter dated December 17, 2013, Dearness Relief (DR) payable to surviving pre-January 1, 1986, bank retirees for the period February 2026 to July 2026 has been notified. For pre-January 1, 1986 retirees (CPI 350), the average monthly ex gratia of ₹1,528.94 will attract DR of ₹5,351.30, making the total monthly amount ₹9,731.50. For surviving spouses (CPI 175), the average monthly ex gratia of ₹1,528.94 will attract DR of ₹2,675.65, making the total monthly amount ₹2,850.65. 

• Further, as per IBA Circular dated February 7, 2023, banks have been advised to consider granting additional ex gratia over and above the DFS guidelines to ensure that surviving pre-1986 retirees or their surviving spouses receive a minimum of ₹10,000 per month as ex gratia.
